The resident on your tee intends to be around for years. Here is how to keep him.
Washing
- Turn the garment inside out before it goes in the machine. The print faces the drum less and keeps its edges.
- Cold water, gentle cycle, like colours together. Hot water is how a crisp design goes soft at the corners.
- Mild detergent only. No bleach and no fabric softener ~ softener leaves a film on the print that dulls it over time.
- Wash it with other soft things. Zips and buttons rub a print raw.
Drying
- Hang it or lay it flat. Air drying is the single kindest thing you can do for a printed tee.
- If the dryer is happening anyway: low heat, inside out, and out the moment it is dry. High heat is where prints crack.
Ironing
- Never iron directly on the print. If the garment needs it, turn it inside out and keep the iron off the design, or press with a cloth in between.
- No steam over the print.
Storage
- Fold it or hang it, both are fine. Keep it out of direct sun for long stretches ~ sunlight fades everything eventually, prints included.
The first wash
- Wash it alone or with like colours the first time. A new garment can let go of a little dye, and garment-dyed pieces especially like to introduce themselves.
If something arrived wrong
- A print that arrived cracked, peeling or off-centre is not how it should look. Reach us through the Contact page with your order number and a photo and we will take it from there.
Treat it well and it stays in rotation for years. He would not have noticed either way.
